This might be a good time for Aaron Rodgers to find another cave, hide for four years and return as Elon Musk’s vice presidential running mate in 2028.
If nothing else, Rodgers would avoid his buddy RFK Jr.’s next measles outbreak.
The critics are coming for the aging Jets quarterback — from every corner of the universe. The media is ripping him. Fans are exercising their option and kicking him to the curb for the rest of this season and beyond. Former NFL stars, who played against Rodgers when he was in his prime, are questioning his deteriorating talent and his heart.
“The Jets deserve better than the old, unenthused and completely uninspired Aaron Rodgers,” former NFL linebacker and FS1 analyst Emmanuel Acho tweeted. “Rodgers is just out there collecting checks. I’m no longer convinced he still craves winning as he once did.”
Acho’s tweet came after the Jets lost to the Indianapolis Colts, 28-27, on Sunday, when Rodgers was outplayed by once-benched quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Rodgers looked lost, can’t throw the ball deep anymore, and when the Jets needed some last-minute magic, he took two sacks. This has not been a good weekend for aging, overpaid athletes making millions.
Just ask Mike Tyson.
The Jets, who have lost seven of their past eight games, fell to 3-8 and now have a 3% chance of making the playoffs, according to NFL.com. They were 2-3 when Woody Johnson fired head coach Robert Saleh and replaced him with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbricht — likely at Rodgers’ urging.
How’s that working out?
Rodgers finished 22 of 29 for 184 yards after a brutally slow start during which he went 9 of 13 for just 76 yards. The Jets failed to get a first down until their sixth offensive possession.
The Jets had a chance to pull the game out, but Rodgers was sacked by Kwity Paye and fumbled on the first play, although the Jets recovered. After running back Breece Hall had an 11-yard catch and a delay-of-game penalty was called on the Colts’ E.J. Speed, Rodgers was sacked again by Paye — sealing the win for the Colts, who snapped a three-game skid.
